The Galle Face protest (known as the Aragalaya, or "The Struggle") was a massive anti-government mass movement in Sri Lanka that began on April 9, 2022, at Galle Face Green. Citizens gathered to protest the worst economic crisis in Sri Lanka since independence. This crisis was marked by severe shortages of food, fuel, cooking gas, and medicine, alongside rolling power cuts and widespread public anger over government corruption. Protesters set up an iconic tent city outside the Presidential Secretariat named GotaGoGama ("Go Gotabaya Village"), demanding the immediate resignation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. The pressure from months of continuous demonstrations forced President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to flee the country and officially resign in July 2022. Sri Lanka.
