It has caused severe gastrointestinal illness, kidney issues, and foodborne outbreaks in Japan affecting over 100 people. E. albertii also promotes antibiotic resistance, with infections carrying a 94% chance of reducing the effectiveness of at least one antibiotic, posing a serious future health risk.
