Description : The ancient Buduruwagala rock temple located in Sri Lanka, featuring seven monumental carvings dating back to the 9th or 10th century C.E. The largest carving is a 51-foot (15.5 meters) standing Buddha statue, believed to be the tallest ancient rock-carved Buddha in the country. The central figure is flanked by two groups of three smaller carvings representing Bodhisattvas, including Avalokiteshwara (the Bodhisattva of compassion) and Vajrapani (symbolizing power). The style of these sculptures is heavily influenced by Mahayana Buddhism and Pallava art from Southern India. The name "Buduruwagala" translates to "Rock of Buddha Images," . Sri Lanka.
