Majority World

About Us

A photo agency with a difference_

Majority World is an innovative business that works with talented photographers from Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East

We specialise in high quality imagery that provides unique insights into local cultures, development issues, environments and contemporary lifestyles in these diverse continents. We also work with client organisations to commission assignments with our experienced photographers who understand the language, the culture, and the locality because it is their own.

But we are more than just a photo agency, we are a social enterprise

Our mission is to create equality of opportunity for our community of photographers. We will nurture and promote their creative talent. We will open new channels for them to tell their own stories. And we will help them build successful digital enterprises.

And our roots and operations are in the majority world itself

Majority World is a Drik initiative. Drik picture library, based in Bangladesh, has been a pioneer in developing multimedia and journalistic skills in the region as well as being a champion for free and open media. In keeping with this heritage, Majority World’s owner and senior management are mainly experienced practitioners from the majority world itself. Its operational hub is now in Sri Lanka, whilst maintaining a presence in London. This will enable us to provide high standards of service to international markets.

To our customers, distributors and partners, we also offer something special

We are a socially responsible brand that sees doing business as a highly effective tool for doing good. Every image purchased, every feature published and every assignment completed is making a direct economic impact in the majority world.

For the talented photographers we work with we are creating visibility, market access, and respect. This is our role in opening doors. For their new global audiences we will challenge perceptions, and provide new sources of inspiration and insight. This is our role in opening minds.
