This labourer who is part of Distress seasonal migrant labourers strikes a pose at a quarry at Rampura village, outskirts of Bangalore. He has lost his hearing due to to the frequent blasts in the quarry and from his childhood is migrating with family of in search of survival in a stone quarry at out skrit of Bangalore.Bangalore is a fast growing e-commerce city. Buildings and sky scrapers are constructed in every where in the city. Flyovers are being built to accommodate high level of traffic and Metro rail project and in order to raise these structures, the raw materials are blasted, broken down from the stone and granite quarries in the outskirts of Bangalore city.Distress Seasonal Migration is a growing .Phenomenon in almost all waterless parts of India. Drought and lack of alternate work in their native villages forces .Entire families to migrate for several months every year in search of work merely to survive rather than any expectation of economic improvement. .Every Year between 1 and 3 crore (10 to 30 million) of Distress Seasonal Migration happening in India, Migration takes place to a range of industrial and agro-industrial sectors such as brick manufacture, salt making, sugar cane harvesting, stone quarrying, construction. Tens of millions of families migrate from their native villages every year for more then 3 to 6 months in a year, to work in agricultural harvesting operations and labour-industries like road works, quarry, saltpans, sugarcane harvesting, and construction. This is because in rain fed areas there is no possibility of a second crop nor alternative livelihood options that will enable survival until the next monsoon. Children accompany their parents, and as a result drop-out of School rates go up.Especially those Migrant are belong to .Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe groups.
